5" Gauge electric
version of the common Class 08 diesel shunter used
all over the Rail network in a variety of liveries.
Based on a design from the 1930's. Over 1000
were built from the 1950's and some 300 still remain
in service as the most common shunter
in the UK which is unlikely to be replaced for many
years.
Weight 50 tons, 400HP diesel electric transmission.
This model has 3 electric motors, one per axle,
run from a pair of 12volt batteries.
A variable speed controller makes it easy even for
children to drive. Manufactured by Compass House.
